I grew up in my family's flooring business, Schmidt Custom Floors in Loveland, Colorado. From 2019 to 2022 I installed, sanded and finished hardwood floors, every step of the job. I worked in the office too, where I got to know common CRMs and inventory software, and I talked with customers every day to sort out problems and make their experience better.
Now I study computer science and mathematics at Colorado State University and do AI research on its machine learning research team. My work is in high-dimensional optimization and sampling: how algorithms find the lowest points of very hard landscapes, from spin glasses in physics to the loss landscapes neural networks learn on. I build interactive visualizations of those algorithms at work.
Duit is where the two meet: AI that fits the way a trade company already works. Simple to use, and only as open as each person's role allows.
